How Did We Start?
Atlas Pet Care & Company has officially been in business since September 2024. The company aims to address pet parents' concerns when finding quality, reliable pet care.
Alex grew up as an avid-pet lover who always strived to learn everything about any animal that interested her. Growing up with a high energy Australian Shepherd named Porter helped her learn just how dedicated she was to helping all pets, no matter their needs. After working at a therapy farm rehabilitating various farm animals during her high school years, she started finding ways to professionally work with animals. She worked in various doggie daycares around the San Antonio area, and also worked at a pet store to focus on advising owners on pet nutrition.
The idea for the company began after our CEO, Alex Lambert, had a less than stellar boarding experience with her own pups, Ruby and Atlas. After going out of town and boarding her pups with an experienced sitter in New York, Alex picked up her pups and noticed Atlas covered in an alarming amount of scratches and nicks. As a boxer, they are quite vulnerable to easy nicks due to their short coat and thin skin. Although Atlas had a lot of fun meeting new pups and human friends, the sitter did not notify in advance of his injuries. Here, she realized how hard it is to find quality, and informative pet care.
After Alex moved to Texas, she started utilizing social media and pet care apps to make some extra income. Over time, she realized every single client she worked with had a negative experience finding in-home pet sitters. She set out with a goal to give high quality care to all pets, regardless of her experience working with certain species or breeds. The business quickly grew into full time work, and she became so busy to the point she needed to recommend alternative sitters to help clients whenever she was unavailable.
After working with a series of independent sitters and teaching other sitters what she had learned, she decided to formally partner with other experienced sitters and teach them everything she knows. The goal was to create a network of sitters with the exact same standards for care by teaching them the ropes. Now, clients of Atlas Pet Care are able to work with multiple sitters under the company, keeping their pets under the same standard of care.
Why Create a Network of Pet Sitters?
One question most clients have when it comes to choosing our services over independent, standalone sitters is why create this option? With pet care networks already existing, they rarely address quality assurance of the care being provided. Verification of a sitter's experience is non-existent here, so it is very easy for not-experienced sitters to slip through the cracks.
Atlas Pet Care & Co allows you to work with a network of insured professionals. Sitters are properly interviewed, given trial clients, and management verifies proper completion of tasks through the Walkies app. This app not only allows management to verify sitters show up, but also allows you to see tasks completed with time stamps, geo tags, and as many photos as you'd like of your pets!
